The National Center for Aviation Training (NCAT) was primarily funded and built by Sedgwick County to meet the aviation manufacturing workforce demand of the area. NIAR – Driving Innovation and Prosperity Wichita State University’s National Institute for Aviation Research is the largest university-based aerospace research lab in the United States, with laboratories spanning 1,000,000 sq.ft., 850 employees and 6 locations. There are many opportunities for hands-on learning and unconventional educational techniques available. The future belongs to you. With so much potential in STEM learning, now is the time to take action! Mobile Learning, Hands-on Demonstration The challenge was how to get more students to recognize the value in technical careers. The result is the FutureMaker Mobile Learning Lab - a 60-foot truck and trailer that is packed with state-of-the-art technology designed to drive interest in technical education as a strong choice for middle school, high school, and adult GED students. The FutureMaker lab program and mobile unit are a partnership between WSU Tech and Goodwill Industries to introduce middle school, high school, and GED seeking students to careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. Participants will be introduced to Career Technical Education (CTE) programs and occupations that are in-demand in the state of Kansas and across the country. The program has grown since inception, and the team works each year to develop new stations to showcase more fields of study with the latest technology. The FutureMaker lab program continues to serve schools and community organizations across the state of Kansas to introduce students to the merits of technical programs of study using hands-on demonstrations.
Start Wherever You Are At NexStep Alliance provides adult education classes, such as GED classes, an Accelerating Opportunity Kansas (A-OK) program with tuition-free college classes, ESL classes, and other community services, at little or no cost to participants. Students can get on a career path they are proud of when they earn their high school diploma and college certifications or transferable college credits at the same time through the A-OK initiative. Through NexStep Alliance, students may be eligible to participate in college or technical school with no tuition costs while they study for the GED exam, or they may use credits to earn their diploma without taking the GED exam. NexStep Alliance is dedicated to preparing students for the career they desire. Knowledge and skills are just the beginning.

FACILITIES & EVENTS The NCAT Facility at a Glance NCAT spans across 225,000 sq.ft. which consists of three buildings: the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center, building 300 (80,948 sq.ft.), the Aviation Training Center, building 200 (96,243 sq.ft.) and the Gateway Administration Center, building 100 (30,435 sq.ft.) for admissions, student services, and employment placement. With training and research labs, classrooms, conference rooms, and public spaces, NCAT is one of the crown jewels of both the Air Capital of the World and the global aviation industry. Located in the Student Center, the Commons and Auditorium are available for use and for rent by the community. Classrooms and conference rooms are also available. The facility provides a wide array of conveniences for your next event including plenty of free parking, close access to all major highways, room capacity from 8 to 212, flexible catering options including a full catering kitchen, a wheelchair accessible campus, electric vehicle charging stations, free WiFi throughout, and the latest in audiovisual technology. The National Center for Aviation Training hosts over 300 events a year from small meetings and trainings to large conferences and celebrations. Come see what we have to offer!
